Bicycle, Pedestrian and Greenway Planning The Piedmont Triad Council of Governments provides bicycle, pedestrian and greenways planning services through our local technical assistance program and rural transportation planning organization services. Why promote a walking or bicycling-friendly community?
Sidewalk Inventory Full ReportA sidewalk inventory for all the municipalities in the Piedmont Triad RPO region was completed in 2007 and includes sidewalk distance, condition and curb ramps. Sidewalk data will enable communities to be more competitive in obtaining bicycle and pedestrian grants. Many communities in the Triad have already been successful in this regard. Inventory Project History For decades after the 1960s, transportation routes were built to accommodate auto-oriented development. In 1995 NCDOT made bicycling and walking elements an integral part of their Statewide Contact Information: If you have questions or concerns regarding the RPO Sidewalk Inventory, please contact: Hanna Cockburn, Senior Planner Piedmont Triad Rural Planning Organization (336)294-4950
