In May, bicyclists across the country celebrate National Bike Month! and Bike to Work Week, May 12-16th, 2008.  The League of American Bicyclists (LAB) has organized National Bicycle Month and provides resources such as the Bike to Work Week Organizing Guide (pdf)

May 2 - Find out How Easy it is to Commute By Bike - Open House, Paceline Bicycle Shop, Location: 2919 Battleground Ave., Greensboro, Ph: 540-0129, Time: 5pm-7pm

Details: Can't figure out the best way to commute to work or to pick up your groceries? Kerry, Jackson and Jesse will be on hand with bike maps and tips on how to commute if you don't have a shower at work.

Details: Learn the basics; emergency roadside repairs, flats, lubrication, etc. Refreshments & Door prizes.

Details: The ride honors cyclists who have been hurt or killed while bicycling.

 Details: This clinic will demystify the challenge of keeping your bicycle in good working order. Learn about parts, basic adjustment, and the care and feeding of your bicycle. Please call if you are coming!

Bike to Work Week helps to:

  • Increase awareness for cyclists on roadways;

  • Educate the community about the benefits of bicycling as a form of transportation (e.g. for health, the environment and traffic congestion);

  • Make information about bicycle commuting and bicycling safety available to potential riders; and

  • Encourage people to try bicycle commuting.
